This course is designed to help high school students (ages 14-19) rapidly learn English in an English-only, immersion environment.

Small class size ensures individualized attention. The curriculum is tailor-made to each student's level and students accelerate at their own pace.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

  • Four weeks of English Immersion

  • Daily English classes with a master teacher (native English speaker) each morning from 8 am to 12:15 pm

  • Daily group afternoon activities (see PDF calendar for details)

    • Walking tour of downtown Honolulu, Honolulu Zoo, flight simulation at the Pacific Aviation Museum, hula lesson and Hawaiiana program, Magic Island Beach, hike up Diamond Head Crater, organic farm trip, souvenirs at Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, sailing on a catamaran boat, hiking the Makapu’u Lighthouse trail, Ala Moana Shopping Center, afternoon at the movies, Bishop Museum, ice skating, Waikiki Beach, Polynesian Cultural Center, campus tour of the University of Hawaii, and the Honolulu Museum of Art

  • Optional 4-week homestay with an American host family (*very limited enrollment)

  • Orientation

  • Pre- and post-testing

  • Certificate of completion

  • Farewell party and graduation ceremony with families


APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Complete online program application form

  • Provide proof of health/accident insurance

  • If participating in homestay, submit "Dear Family" letter and photo

  • Payment:

    • Submit $300 deposit to reserve enrollment at time of application

    • Submit remainder of program fees by June 30:

      • Balance is $1,995 after deposit - total cost is $2,295

    • Limited Enrollment 4-week homestay (based on availability):

      • Homestay fee $900 - total program cost is $3195


The participant is responsible for all international travel expenses to and from Hawaii, travel documents (visa, passport, etc.) and health/accident insurance (required of all participants throughout the duration of the program) and transportation to and from school e.g., by public bus. Students will also be expected to bring sufficient spending money to cover personal expenses, emergency expenditures, and any debts incurred while in the State of Hawaii. Most students are residing with parents, relatives, or guardians, limited IHC Homestay Enrollment with Host Families, who will provide basic room and board and involvement in family activities. Special events, excursions, or activities beyond the program described above are the responsibility of the participant).
