For students aged 21 and over

A unique English language program will take place this summer at St. Andrew’s Priory School in Honolulu, Hawaii, in cooperation with the International Hospitality Center. One four week session for adults will be offered from July 18 to August 14, 2010.

This course is designed to meet the needs of beginning, intermediate, and advanced adults, thus allowing the participants to start at any level and make rapid progress according to individual needs. The class will emphasize spoken and conversational English. The curriculum is keyed to the practical experience of living and adapting to life in Hawaii. Some lessons will be geared to helping children and other adults acquire oral/spoken English skills, so the course is ideal for parents of children enrolled in the Junior Division course. Reading, writing and grammar will also be included. Small class size ensures individualized attention.

Classes will be held three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (a total of 48 contact hours of English language instruction).

Upon request, we will provide one “optional” weekend homestay during the four-week program. Host families include the participant as a member of the family (not a formal guest) and in family activities and is a wonderful way to apply what is learned in the classroom.

What’s included in the cost?

 

The cost includes tuition, orientation, pre- and post-testing, counseling, graduation ceremony and farewell dinner and one “optional” weekend homestay during the four-week term. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the program.

Participants are responsible for all international travel expenses to and from Hawaii, travel documents (e.g. Visa, passport, etc.) and health and accident insurance (required of all participants throughout the duration of the program) and transportation to and from St. Andrew’s Priory School. The host for the two-night homestay will provide basic room and board and involvement in family activities for one weekend).
